Philippine: Cocaine shipment washed up on remote beaches alarms authorities

The Cabinet of Philippine President Arroyo is meeting in Baguio alarmed over “Recent drug busts in Samar and Aurora worth more than P1 billion.” Earlier this year the President had warned about the growing influence of Narco-Politics and terror groups using narcotics to raise funds.

Mayon Volcano: Eruption ‘Anytime’ Quakes and Snakes show sign of imminent blast

Manila – The Philippine Institute of Volcanolgy and Seismology or PHIVOLCs warns that eruption may take place at any time at Mt. Mayon Volcano on Luzon Island’s Bicol Peninsula.

Mayon Volcano: Massive eruption feared before New Years in Philippines

Manila- Government scientists are saying that a Volcano on the Philippines Bicol peninsula may erupt within days in a large scale explosion as sulfur emissions per day have been doubling in volume.
The most recent report says Sulfur emissions have reached over 7000 tons per day from the near perfect cone Volcano that looms over some twenty towns and three small and one large city in Albay province.

Philippine: Maguindanao Martial Law lifted – state of emergency still in place

Manila – Philippine President Gloria Arroyo has recalled her presidential proclomation placing Maguindanao province under martial law – and – transmitted the same to the Senate and House of Representatives ending a 8 day state of martial law in one Philippine province.
However, the state of emergency in Maguindanao by virtue of Proclamation 1946 issued November 24, 2009 remains in effect. This covers the province of Maguindanao, Sultan Kuderat, and Cotabato City.

Agusan Del Sur- Authorities in the Philippines are in negotiations with a rogue group of militiamen from a Manobo tribal area in Agusan del Sur province. Government media says a total of 125 people were taken hostage in a 8am raid on a school in the town of Properidad.
