Philippines:Clinton visit & US Congress increases to $667 Mil Obama administraition aid package

Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo said the south east Asian country welcomes Secretary Hillary Clinton visit the Philippines on for two days on Novemeber 12th and 13th before the APEC Summit in Singapore that lasts until the 19th.
Secretary Clinton’s first visit to the Philippines as U.S. Secretary of State will be meeting with Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her Philippine counterpart Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alberto G. Romulo in what has been called closed door discussions.

H1N1 Alert: WHO advisory on Pets and Mammals the H3N2 influenza virus

In a rare alert on livestock and household pets as well as vermin the world health organization is raising an alarm that the dreaded N1H1 vrius may also be carried by the animals we love and some we hate.

House to boost Public defender wages in effort to attract “young blood & new lawyers for the people”

New lawyers prefer the private sector and not government service because of low salary. This is the reason, according to Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera, why only few lawyers can be found at the prosecutorial department of the Department of Justice and the Public Attorneys Office (PAO). Devanadera said there are more than 500 vacant positions for lawyers at the DOJ at the moment yet only few lawyers have expressed their intention to serve in the government.

Philippines: Thailand & China help disaster vicitms with Rice and Soft Loans

Amidst new announcements showing the extent of damge to agriculture alone topping 24 Billion Pesos, Thailand Sunday made a gesture to help out the Philippine agriculture department with a large donation of rice for feeding programs and stockpiles for the National Food Authority.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Saturday (Oct. 24, 2009) received Thailand’s commitment to donate 620 metric tons of rice for the victims of typhoons ”Ondoy” and ”Pepeng.”

Storm Ramil (Lupit) “Parked’ off Northern Luzon

Disturbing Report raises fears of a repeat of Typhoon Parma’s shifting and course changes as the Typhoon Ramil (Lupit) goes into a parked or stationary mode off of the Northern Philippines. Hairstylist Ricky Reyes supports GMA’s job creation project for typhoon victims
A famous hairstylist has thrown his support behind the effort of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to help typhoon victims get back on their feet. Ricky Reyes, president of the Filipino Hairdressers Cooperative (FilHairCoop), said his group is holding training courses for interested residents displaced by the flooding brought by Ondoy in Metro Manila and Pepeng in Northern Luzon.

Philippines taking no chances as Typhoon moves west towards Luzon Island

The Philippine National Disaster and Coordinating Council has issued a alert Saturday afternoon in Manila as a new Typhoon Ramil, aka Lupit its international name, entered the Philippine areas of responsibility.
