Latest information on disaster damage and reports from NDCC:
Toll: 26 Dead 26 Missing a total of 30,260 families composed of 151,351 persons were affected by Typhoon Basyang in 408 barangays of 7 cities and 62 municipalities in 12 provinces of Regions III, IV-A, V and NCR
Fifty-four (54) evacuation centers were utilized and provided temporary shelter to 1,946 families or 9,511 persons. As of this report, 1,526 families or 7,545 persons are still inside 37 evacuation centers.

Philippines: Arroyo admin left Calamity funds “in a state of disaster” -Abad

News reports in the country’s leading newspapers note a somewhat concerned state in Government, after a review of calamity funds available in the Philippines should a major calamity or disaster hit. Finance Sec. Florencio Abad, says a review “Calamity funds inherited by the Aquino Administration shows the Philippine government’s calamity funds are at near crisis levels” -This is because of expenses of the past administration on spending on major disasters that hit the country last year.

PHILIPPINES: It’s Official “Aquino & Binay won May 2010 polls”

Senator Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay emerged winners in the country’s first automated elections. This, as the 18-man joint congressional committee, who acts as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) completed on Tuesday afternoon the canvassing of 278 certificates of canvass (CoCs), including 107 from overseas absentee voting (OAV).

Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo said the south east Asian country welcomes Secretary Hillary Clinton visit the Philippines on for two days on Novemeber 12th and 13th before the APEC Summit in Singapore that lasts until the 19th.

H1N1 Alert: WHO advisory on Pets and Mammals the H3N2 influenza virus

In a rare alert on livestock and household pets as well as vermin the world health organization is raising an alarm that the dreaded N1H1 vrius may also be carried by the animals we love and some we hate.
