Philippines: “All the right moves” for Pres. Aquino a 88% SWS approval rating
Philippine President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III is “Elated on the trust ratings given to his administration with a high 88 percent trust rating conducted by the Social Weather Station (SWS).” reports the Philippine News Agency.
Normally on stories like this the information would be available online on the www.gov.ph site.
But with the change of plans at the President’s and national governments portal the site is currently down with simple welcome page in place of the regular website that has been there since the time of President Ramos.
That URL had been home to information and news releases but presently the website is undergoing a revamp and limited information is available there right now on the site which is going through a face life and rework, So as per the Government owned Philippine News Agency -
President Aquino at a media briefing Monday morning after attending a command conference of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City that the 88 percent trust rating given by the Filipino people “is a driving force for us to work hard and maintain that trust.”
“Who will not be elated by the trust rating, it is the impetus, our inspiration to us to work hard and maintain it,” President Aquino added. In recent week the low key style of Aquino has boosted a already popular position shown by the surveys.
According to the PNA report, “SWS conducted the survey on June 25-28 before P-Noy together with Vice-President Jejomar Binay were swore in into office on June 30.”

In the survey the report goes onto say that, “Eighty eight percent of the 1,200 respondents on the survey believes that President Aquino could be able to fulfill his campaign promises.” A high grade for the man in power less than three weeks after being sworn into office,
Aquino’s low profile approach to moving about the capitol area is seen as breath of fresh air by most Filipino’s. To whom the new president is seen called Pnoy a acronym for President Noynoy his nickname. But also a play on the word many Filipino’s use to describe themselves as “Pinoy” a term which is widely used and accepted as a short form of the tagalog word Pilipino or all things Filipino.
Reporters talking to Aquino earlier today asked questions on his popularity ratings which are expectedly high for a nw President.
Aquino however hopes the popularity levels remain high considering negative reports hes been getting on government performance to date, Aquino hinted that tough times are ahead for the country with the some sectors in Government performing poorly, Aquino put it forward just after a military briefing on the current National security situation.
According to the President in the government news agency story, “It is hard for him to lie and he asked the various departments to find out the real state of the nation.”
The Government news agency report said Aquno told reporters that, “every department is giving him bits and pieces and he found out there has been plethora of bad news.” President Aquino further said, “he will provide the public with further details just as soon as the government has identified these problems with supporting documents.”
Bookworm President’s visit to neighborhood bookstore gets ‘National attention’
Earlier this afternoon, I was at a bookstore the President shopped at over the weekend near his home in suburban Quezon City. “I posed for pictures with him – he was so nice about it! ” a saleslady at a bookstore on Quezon Avenue told me and another journalist-blogger this afternoon.
Aquino used to pop into the national bookstore on Quezon Ave frequenting the store less than a block from his house -from time to time to buy things more often before.” Suki siya naman pati yung family nila – akala namin di na siya dadaan uli… but he was just here shopping for some books and CD’s.” (He used to be regular customer before – when he was a congressman – he has no airs about him stands in line buys what he wants then leaves.” most people never noticed Aquino or his siblings in the bookstore or small department store next to it before.
“hopefully he keeps coming back! another saleslady said, “free advertising! she laughed noting a lot of people dropped by on sunday when they heard the President went shopping there.
