Cumulative donations, both in cash and kind, for “Oplan Sagip Bayan” reached P73.9 million as of yesterday (Oct. 16). Since it started operations last month after the onslaught of typhoon “Ondoy,” the Malacañang-initiated relief operation has benefited 274,268 families. Between Oct. 15 and 16 alone, the center sent 3,950 regular packs of relief goods to families in Muntinlupa and Barangay Tampak in Hagonoy, Bulacan.
The cumulative number of first time and repeat volunteers stands at 10,950. Volunteers were private individuals, members of non-government organizations, government employees, and students.

In today’s cabinet meeting at the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) office at Camp Aguinaldo, the Chief Executive received an update by her cabinet members on the progress of the rescue, relief and rehabilitation/restoration operations as a result of the devastation caused by typhoon Ondoy. .
The President issued several directives to ensure the security, health, sanitation and cleanliness in the typhoon–stricken areas and to help typhoon victims go back to normal life.
